RHINOPLASTY

RHINOPLASTY (NOSE JOB)

The procedure performed in the nose aesthetics ( Rhinoplasty surgery ) is to reshape the nose by changing the structure of the cartilage and the bones. So as to create a more aesthetic nose shape, sometimes it is necessary to cut the bones and the cartilage, sometimes on the contrary, to complete the missing parts and to change their shapes. The surgical nose operations take approximately 1.5 hours after the holistic evaluation based on the location, proximity, angle and distance of the other facial structures. In the same session, problems related to both the breathing problem and the aesthetic appearance can be eliminated. The normal work life is restored with the controls to be performed on the 3rd and 7th days after the surgery. No nauseating buffers are used in nasal surgery.

ARE YOU ELIGABLE FOR RHINOPLASTY?

In order to be able to perform nose surgery, you are generally asked to be a healthy individual. The most suitable candidates for rhinoplasty surgery can be evaluated in three categories:

1) Appearance: The majority of women or men who decide to have a rhinoplasty operation want this operation to achieve a more beautiful appearance. The most common reasons for applying for this operation are:

- The nose is too big for the face,

- Nasal hump viewed from the side,

- The nose is too broad when viewed from the front,

- Low nasal tip or sagging,

- Nose tip thickness or width,

- Width of the nostrils,

- the nose to the right or left, sometimes both sides in the form of 's' to be crooked,

- Unintended appearance as a result of previous surgery (secondary surgery)

- A non-symmetrical view of the nose as a result of an injury that occurred earlier.

After the surgery, the patients are pleased with their general appearance and their self-confidence increases significantly. It has been shown in various scientific studies that this fact contributes positively to the social and business life of the patients.

2) Injury: If you have been injured in an accident and this has caused a malfunction in your nose, rhinoplasty can be applied to ensure that your nose regains its old appearance as much as possible.

3) Breathing: Respiratory problems can be eliminated by rhinoplasty and / or septoplasty in patients with narrowing of the nasal cavity due to severe curvature.

OPEN RHINOPLASTY

During this operation, the surgeon opens a transverse incision in the columella (the column separating the two nostrils), where he strips the skin from the tip of the nose and delicately shapes the inner bone and cartilage. This leaves a small mark on the underside of the nose, which is often unnoticed. The advantage of this technique is that it provides full grip on the nose and allows the nose tip to be firmly shaped with the sutures. The disadvantages are a slight risk of traces in the columella. Clinically, almost all of the patients recover this scar to be hardly noticed at the end of the first year. Therefore, this risk is very low. This technique is the most commonly used nose surgery technique in the world today.

CLOSED RHINOPLASTY

Since the incisions are made through the nostrils, there is virtually no visible trace. On the other hand, the tip of the nose cannot be shaped by sutures since  it cannot be dominated as in the open technique. This technique, which can be preferred in patients who do not need to shape the nose tip, has lost its popularity today.

PIEZO RHINOPLASTY

Edema caused by rhinoplasty (swelling of the face and eyelids) and ecchymosis (bruising on the face and eyelids) are one of the most worrying subjects for patients in the postoperative period. Depending on the skin structure and the procedures performed, there may be a certain amount of swelling and bruising in every nose surgery.

The device used with the "Piezo Surgery" technology for minimal trauma and minimal tissue damage has now made these worries disappear.

It is a reliable method that allows shaping with sound waves rather than breaking the bones of the nose.

REVISION RHINOPLASTY

Review Rhinoplasty is a revision surgery for a person who has had a previous nose surgery operation.

A revision is required in 5-15% of nasal surgery operations for various reasons. Minimal asymmetry, palpable irregularity, scarring, healing defects in certain places, or instances where the doctor cannot find fault, but patient’s dissatifaction with the new nose are the possible causes of revision rhinoplasty. A good preliminary interview and preliminary analysis, and a suitable design will minimize these conditions. There are various factors such as skin type, wound healing, patient's cartilage structure, materials used in surgery and the technique used. For example, in the case of a person with thin light skin, a lot of "camouflage grafts’’ should be used, so that there is no defect in the skin or cartilage or bone structure.

We can divide the revision surgeries into two types; the first one is "touch-up" operations with small touches. Other types of surgeries are difficult surgeries performed by taking the helper cartilage from the ribs or ears and shaping the nose from start to top.

The pre- and post-procedure in revision rhinoplasties are similar to the primary cases. In cases of rib or ear cartilage, the wound healing process and dressings of these regions vary.
