LIPOSUCTION / LASER LIPOLYSIS

LIPOSUCTION

Liposuction is a fat removal surgery. Removing the fat from the targeted areas is the process of thinning these areas and reshaping your body.

Fat removal surgery can be performed to remove excess fat in many parts of your body such as abdomen, thighs, buttocks, butt, inner knee, chest, cheek, chin, calf and wrist. It can also be applied at the same time with reshaping operations such as abdominal lifting or face lifting to further improve the results.

WHO IS SUITABLE FOR LIPOSUCTION?

Accumulation of fat in the body may be the result of nutritional habits, age, genetics and many other factors. If you have a regular diet and exercise, but you are experiencing problems with fat in certain areas, liposuction may be an appropriate option for you.

Liposuction is not a weight loss method; rather it aims to improve and shape the current state of your body. This surgery can be applied to both men and women. However, you are preferably asked to meet the following criteria.

• Your ideal body weight (body mass index, that is the body mass divided by the square of the body height should be less than 25)

• Keeping your ideal weight steadily

• Have a good quality skin that is flexible and allows for recovery

LIPOSUCTION TECHNIQUES

Liposuction surgery can be performed under local anesthesia for small areas (eg only around the umbilicus). However, for larger areas, general anesthesia is more suitable for patient comfort. At the beginning of the procedure, serum is transfused to ensure fluid-electrolyte balance and bleeding control. "Superwet" or " Tumescent " techniques may be preferred depending on the technique and the nature of the patient.

Today, 4 different liposuction techniques are used.

Classic Vacuum Assisted Liposuction:

This technique is the most preferred and ideal technique in young patients with good skin quality and elasticity. In the first step, the liquid is injected through the holes smaller than 1 cm and in the second step the fat in the desired region is sucked out. If the distance to the degreasing area is appropriate, the incisions are preferred to be made from areas such as the navel or bikini area where they are less likely to appear.

Laser Assisted Liposuction:

This technique consists of 4 steps. Step 1 and 3 are exactly the same as conventional vacuum assisted liposuction. In the second step of this technique, the fat is liquefied by laser energy. In the third step the liquefied fat is suctioned out with the classic vacuum assisted liposuction. In the last and most important step, laser is used to tighten the skin and subcutaneous tissues. It is a more appropriate option in patients with lower skin elasticity.

Invasix (Radio Frequency Assisted):

Laser liposuction uses laser beams whereas invasix technique uses radiofrequency waves help to burn fat, as well as a significant tightening effect on the skin is seen in these procedures.

Ultrasound Assisted (Vaser) Liposuction:

This technique consists of 3 steps. In the first step, like other techniques, serum is transfused. In the second step, the fat is liquefied by ultrasound energy. In the last step, it is sucked out with vacuum assisted liposuction system. It is a preferred method in patients with low skin elasticity.

RECOVERY AFTER LIPOSUCTION

Your full recovery time depends on the size of the area where the fat is removed. Generally, if fat is removed from a single area, you can return to your normal business life within 2-3 days. However, if fat is removed from more than one area, you may need a rest period of about one week. It is generally recommended to use a corset for 1 month. It is recommended that you pay attention to healthy nutrition and sports in order to ensure long lasting results after surgery. You can do all kinds of sports activities 1 month after the surgery. On the other hand, if you gain weight, you will not gain weight only from the treated places. You'll gain weight in a similar way from your whole body. So your old regional lipoidosis does not reappear. Although liposuction is not a weight loss method, it is a very successful method for men and women who want to get rid of excess fat in certain areas. It reduces fat especially in troubled areas such as the abdomen, thighs and buttocks, and thus helps you to feel better about your body.

LASER LIPOLYSIS

Laser lipolysis cannulas are very thin and round-tipped so they do not damage the tissue.

Laser lipolysis affects the body fat as well as shortens the collagen fibers under the skin and causes tightening and recovery of the skin.

As the microvessels in the adipose tissue constricted , the possibility of bruising is minimal after the application. It does not damage vessels and nerves while melting body fat. Since the cannulae are 0.6-1.2mm, there are no scars on the body.

Which areas does it apply to?

1-Waist - Belly - love handles

2-Arm, jowl and male breast fattening called gynecomastia

3-Basen - Buttocks Banana Line - Knee - Upper Leg Inside - Upper Leg Front Side

4-Calf and ankle

The  stages of the procedure

1-Test for hospital suitability

2-Local anesthesia

3-Bursting and withdrawal of fat cells

4-To achieve maximum tightening of the skin by super ultrasonic lipolysis and laser cellulysis to increase skin tension

5-Corset dressing

How is it applied?

Sedation and local anesthesia are usually sufficient for application. General anesthesia may be preferred as it may be inconvenient to use more local anesthetics, sometimes if the patient is willing to do so, and sometimes too many regions will be treated in the same session.

What are the side effects?

Except for a slight edema in a short time, there is no other disturbance. Bruising may occur due to the injection of anesthetic agent which passes in 15-20 days. There is no serious side effect and risk.

Is sports and diet an alternative to laser lipolysis?

Diet and sports have no place in getting rid of regional fat excesses and creating permanent shape changes.

Proper diet and exercise and a regular lifestyle are essential to get rid of excess weight. However, even those who meet these requirements may have persistent fat deposits that do not disappear. Certain areas of the body such as abdomen, waist, hips, outer and inner sides of the thighs, knees are areas of fat accumulation resistant to diet and exercise. Excess fat in these areas is eliminated to some extent by diet and exercise, and more exercise and diet results in disruption of the body's overall metabolism rather than thinning in these areas.
